We are so busy haying that everyone is getting pretty worn out. Knowing that there was no rain forecast until Tuesday, it has been a frenzy of mowing, tedding, and baling as much as we can handle. Some bales get wrapped to create an anaerobic environment, which ferments into what is called "haylage" (similar to silage) and is good for keeping up milk production in the winter. But we also put up quite a bit of dry hay, which is quickly filling up the hay barn.
This picture was taken on the 16th, so quite a few more bales have been added since then.
